Global Insurance Company

Relocating its Madrid team created an opportunity for this global insurance company to build on the workplace identity established in London, while creating something unmistakably local.

Set within an unusually curved floorplate, the new 226 sq m office turns the character of the building into one of its defining features.

Rather than working against the architecture, AIS developed a design that follows and accentuates its curves. Materials, joinery and circulation respond to the shape of the floorplate, creating a workplace that feels intentional and fluid.

Contemporary interpretations of traditional Madrid tilework, locally inspired graphics and a natural material accents give the workplace its own identity within the wider portfolio.

The result is a compact but varied workplace that balances focused work, collaboration and hospitality, connecting a global brand with its new home in Madrid.

Designing around the curve

The unusual geometry of the floorplate became the starting point for a design that connects global brand cues with Madrid character. The curved edge is celebrated through timber slatted panelling that flows along the corridor, while navy blue, light woods, green accents and changing carpet colours define zones naturally.

The entrance leads into a welcoming tea point, where mobile tables create flexibility for meetings, gatherings and events, and a feature logo wall brings Madrid into the space through a bespoke map of the city. From the entrance, the workplace flows into a 12-person meeting room, huddle room and 24-desk open-plan workspace, adjustable height desks, booths, planting and bespoke joinery adding variety and warmth.

Local references bring another layer. Contemporary tilework in brand colours nods to Madrid’s decorative tiles, while a bespoke skyline graphic picks out the building in signature blue. Booth graphics add privacy, with writable surfaces and acoustic panels supporting performance.

Connected globally, grounded in Madrid.

The new workplace gives the local team a distinct home within the company’s wider portfolio. Compact but considered, it brings together spaces to focus, meet, gather and connect in an environment with its own sense of place.
