Expanding footprint within a hybrid workplace
Driven by continued, global success, Pax 8 had decided that now was the time to increase its real estate footprint and further establish its workplace culture after a number of acquisitions. With a diverse and skilled workforce, the objective was to create a fun, branded space serving as a destination workplace, promoting office attendance and talent attraction within the hybrid work model. We went beyond strengthening team bonds and fostering social interaction among departments that were once isolated. The open-plan design philosophy not only broke down barriers but also provided a variety of workspace configurations to mirror the diversity within teams.
Tailoring zones for diverse work needs
Work zones encompassed expansive typologies, ranging from open-plan areas and collaborative zones to bookable spaces, meeting rooms, focus rooms, and training areas – ensuring a space tailored for everyone’s unique work needs.
In anticipation of future team growth, a sophisticated curtain system was introduced. The curtains in the breakout spaces are ingeniously crafted to uphold the open circular layout while providing the flexibility to close them in different directions. This feature seamlessly accommodates the creation of small meeting spaces as required.
The versatile central hub space serves as a hub for socialising, providing opportunities for camaraderie through activities such as watching films together or engaging in games. This adaptable space also functions as a cafe and can be transformed to host large-scale client entertainment events.
Establishing the design language
Pax8’s 10,032 sq ft Zwolle workplace marked an important stage in developing a more consistent global workplace identity. The brief called for a destination that could strengthen workplace culture, encourage interaction between teams and provide a varied environment for employees and clients.
The building’s curved floorplate presented an unusual space-planning challenge. AIS responded with an open, circular layout incorporating workstations, collaboration areas, bookable spaces, meeting and focus rooms and dedicated training areas.
At its centre, a flexible hub creates a social focal point, working as a café and everyday gathering place as well as a setting for films, games and large-scale client events. A sophisticated curtain system allows breakout areas to be divided into smaller meeting spaces without losing the openness of the overall layout.
Delivered alongside Pax8’s Bristol workplace, Zwolle also helped establish standards for furniture and finishes that could be carried through future locations, creating consistency without making every office identical.
A new UK headquarters, built to evolve
Two years after, the 14,000 sq ft Farnborough project took that established identity forward, creating a new UK headquarters shaped around sustainability, inclusivity, flexibility and meaningful brand expression.
Inspired by Farnborough’s aviation heritage, the workplace introduces local character within the wider Pax8 design language. A suspended paper-plane installation creates an immediate focal point, while bold brand expression, playful furniture and informal settings bring the energy of Pax8 into the space.
Adaptability runs throughout. Modular event areas and flexible furniture allow spaces to shift according to changing requirements, while social settings including the coffee bar, shuffleboard and swing-seat meeting areas create opportunities for people to connect beyond formal work.
Technology is equally important. Smart systems are integrated throughout the workplace, while a dedicated production studio gives Pax8 a high-quality environment for creating content and connecting with its wider community.
Together, these elements create a UK headquarters that feels unmistakably Pax8 while responding specifically to its location, people and future growth.
From Zwolle to Farnborough, each project has built on what came before while responding to a different building, location and stage of Pax8's growth.

By combining workplace strategy, design, construction and furniture, AIS has helped create a consistent workplace experience without imposing a one-size-fits-all solution.
